Follow Me Live!
Here I am at the same race in 2010, just slightly emotional after learning I’d won the women’s amateur race! It’s been such a long time in the making and it’s always a true honor to have a chance to race here.
Today, you can follow me live!
The half ironman distance in the beautiful big island of Kona starts today at 7AM Hawaii Time.
For those unfamiliar with triathlon, we begin with a 1.2 mile swim in Hapuna Beach, followed by a 56 mile bike ride along the Queen K out to Hawi and back and finish up with a half marathon in and around the grounds of the Fairmont Orchid.
Fast, hot and delicious, and just slightly below the redline for a few hours of sheer effort, culminating in the most spectacular (and natural), exhilarating high that I know… this is what racing is all about. And I love every second of every minute of the training that goes into it. Such a huge part of my life, my husbands, and many of my readers, too.
If you’ve never raced and it’s because you prefer not to be competitive with physical activity, that’s cool, as long as you’re moving your body in some way, shape or form. If, however, the only reason is that you don’t think you can, well, that does’t cut it.
Give it a try- you might surprise yourself!
For anyone who’s been following me for a while knows the drill, but if you’re new to my site and blog, virtual spectators can follow live at
using the athlete tracker.
I’m racing under BIB # 1360 in the Women’s 35-39 age group.
Send your great race vibes my way!
