Icelandic Seaweed; A Must Try!

One of the few foods I eat that does come in a package is seaweed.

I have always enjoyed the Eden brand of wakame (which only lists seaweed as its ingredient).

Recently, I tried another brand, Seaweed Iceland, who offers a lovely dulse, (also with seaweed as its only ingredient).  Here’s a little info about this delicious food from their site:

Dulse is a fat free, cholesterol free food, rich in vitamin B6, dietary and soluble fiber, protein, iodine and potassium. It has the highest iron content of any sea vegetable.  Seaweed Iceland’s Dulse grows wild and is harvested by hand from pure Icelandic waters. We dry it using renewable geothermal energy to bring you the highest quality food source with a low carbon footprint.

All seaweed has a naturally salty taste, (as they’re obviously from a rather salty place, the sea!), but are not too high in sodium and are thus Paleo friendly.

Eat as is, straight from the package, chop up into bits and sprinkle on top of your salad for some crunch, or rehydrate with water and make into a seaweed salad to eat with sashimi.
