If filet mignon is not in your budget, opting for a less expensive cut doesn't have to result in a dry, tasteless entree. With a bit of the right spices, you'll have a lovely meal that's just as delicious!
Ingredients
  • 1 ripe medium tomato
  • 1 clove raw garlic, smashed
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1 pound grass fed sirloin steak
  • 2 teaspoons dried cumin
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
  1. Combine first three ingredients in food processor to create a paste
  2. Use a meat tenderizer tool to pound steaks
  3. Spread paste onto both sides of steak and let sit at room temp for 30 minutes
  4. Preheat your broiler
  5. Combine dried spices in small bowl
  6. Place steaks on wire rack and sprinkle half the spice mixture on top
  7. Broil for five minutes, turn over and sprinkle the rest of spices on
  8. Broil five minutes longer
  9. Check internal temperature and cook longer if you prefer a more well done steak
  10. Remove from oven and tent with foil for five minutes
  11. Serve with your favorite steamed veggies or salad.
