An Interesting Fruit- The JUJUBE

NOT to be confused with the candy, of course!

I tried this Chinese Date for the first time yesterday- and LOVED it!  I'd only ever tried dried dates before, as in Medjool dates.  These had a similar taste with a lot more crunch, and a lot LESS sugar (as do all fresh vs. dried fruits).

Some of its many health benefits include:

-Great source of potassium, phosphorus, manganese and calcium.

-Also high in sodium, zinc, iron and copper.

-Jujube contains vitamin c, riboflavin and thiamine. It contains 20 times the amount of vitamin C as citrus fruits.

The vitamin and mineral content of the fruit is said to help to soothe the stomach, ease sore throats, suppress the appetite, support cardiovascular health, enhance metabolism and cleanse the blood vessels.

Pick some up at your farmer's market when you see them!
