This recipe is a variation of a dish I had at a favorite restaurant, in which you intentionally char the broccoli!
Many clients ask if they need to first steam the broccoli, and then saute it. I've cooked this dish many times using raw broccoli and quite enjoy the way it turns out:
Saute garlic & olive oil in a cast iron skillet.
Add raw broccoli florets (and cauliflower, too, if you like) and saute, stirring frequently, over medium heat. Cook to your desired level of doneness, whether you prefer al dente, or a bit softer, toss with lemon and fresh pepper and serve hot with that meal's protein dish…
