LOVE the Papaya!

While in the islands, partaking of the fresh, local fruit is an easy and tasty way to keep your snacks and meals Paleo.

One of my favourites is papaya.

Papayas  are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids, and pantothenic acid, potassium and magnesium; and fiber.

Papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain, which is similar to bromelain, found in pineapple, making it a great option for a dessert.

Following are but a few of the many ways to enjoy it:

-plain

-sliced with lime & chili pepper

-cubed, then frozen in a smoothie

-dried for a great portable snack to eat during a hike or long bike ride

-diced, tossed with red onion, cilantro & lime as a salsa
