Pears- as Snacks, in Salads and Even Sorbets


Just a couple of days after I picked up this beauty of a pear, I received a question from a reader, asking how to use them in #Paleo Diet cooking, in addition to simply eating them as a snack.

Here are just a few ideas:

-Poach them in water with a cinnamon stick and/or a vanilla bean for a delicious and healthy dessert

-Slice them and add to a fresh, crisp salad of Butter Lettuce, avocado and walnuts

-Halve them and grill, then dice with some white onion, cilantro and tomato, for a different twist on salsa

-Cut into wedges and wrap with thinly sliced leftover roast turkey- a variation from the Italian Prosciutto & melon

-Steam, then cool and puree, then freeze, mixing every 30' with a fork, to create a Paleo Pear Granita, which will have a texture similar to sorbet, but without the added sugar

Or- just take a bite and enjoy as is!
